The Catholic Schools Soccer Carnival has a long history and tradition for Canberra Catholic schools going back to the late 1990’s where the first carnival was coordinated by St Bede’s Primary School in Red Hill. Since then it has grown to include many of the Archdiocesan systemic Catholic Primary Schools from the ACT and NSW.
Each year a different ACT Catholic School hosts the Soccer Carnival and this year Holy Spirit Primary School in Nicholls will coordinate the carnival. The vision of Holy Spirit is: Alive with the Spirit, we celebrate faith, learning and life.
The primary focus of the Soccer Carnival is to promote healthy lifestyle choices and teamwork to the children through the world’s game, Soccer! The Carnival also allows the schools to build upon the Catholic school community through this inter school carnival and act as a key fundraiser for the host school.
This is the single largest sporting event held annually by the Canberra Catholic Schools. It will see 1,200 Canberra children across 100 teams participate in the carnival, being cheered on by their family and friends.
We have a group of dedicated parents and teachers working together to put on a fantastic day for the children with a full day’s agenda planned out to engage and entertain not only the children participating but those attending as spectators. On the day we expect children to be cheered on by their parents, siblings, and extended family.
This year’s event will be held on Sunday 8 April 2018.
